Fire Academy FSA Scholarship Programs
The Faculty Student Association offers two scholarship opportunities to Association members and their dependents.
FSA 2011 Scholarship
Through this scholarship program, the Association works to enhance the quality of fire service leadership and service through academic achievement at the Fire Academy and college levels. Annual Scholarship awards of up to $1,000.00 are available to qualified students seeking to advance their education in the following fields:
- Fire suppression
- Fire prevention
- Fire office
- Fire administration
- Programs in architecture as related to the fire service
Scholarship awards may be applied to courses at the Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Graduate levels, as well as course work at the New York State Academy of Fire Science.

Lt. Andrew A. Fredericks Memorial Resident Scholars Chair
This annual scholarship chair is intended to develop keen and insightful scholarship dedicated to the memory of Andrew A. Fredericks, a fire service educator whose devotion to research was the inspiration to a generation of fire service educators. The purpose of this scholarship program is to encourage fire service education through scholarly research while in residence at the New York State Academy of Fire Science.
