Q: What is the difference between Fire Academy FSA and
the New York State Academy of Fire Science, and why is
this important?
A: Fire Academy FSA is a domestic not-for-profit
corporation that is completely separate from the New
York State Academy of Fire Science and the Office of
Fire Prevention and Control. Although we support
activities and programs to benefit the students and
faculty at the fire academy, Fire Academy FSA is NOT
a part of New York State. The New York State Academy
of Fire Science is a division of the New York State
Department of State, Office of Fire Prevention and
Control. In part, this means that Fire Academy FSA
cannot accept payments directed to the New York State
Fire Academy, and the New York State Fire Academy
cannot accept payments directed to Fire Academy FSA.
Q. Who can join the Association and what are the dues
for membership?
A: Membership in Fire Academy FSA is open to all
full-time employees of the New York State Office of
Fire Prevention and Control and to those who have
successfully completed at least one Academy course.
Dues for Life Membership are $25.00. Click on the
"About" button at the left to find out more about the
Association and membership.

Q: Can I buy bookstore products online?
A: There you will find info about the bookstore and
how to order products online.
Q: How do I obtain materials and reference assistance
from the Academy Library?

and research help. You can telephone, fax or e-mail
to consult with the Academy librarian. The Academy
Library is open daily, including some Saturdays and
evenings. Loans or photocopies of materials may be
requested, without charge. Click on the "Library"
