Lt. Andrew A. Fredericks Memorial Resident Scholars Chair

This annual scholarship chair is intended to develop keen and insightful scholarship dedicated to the memory of Andrew A. Fredericks, a fire service educator whose devotion to research was the inspiration to a generation of fire service educators.

Among many other attributes, Andrew Fredericks was a well-respected fire service instructor, including training and instructing at the New York State Academy of Fire Service in multiple capacities. Andy would regularly be found in the Fire Academy Library with books, articles and other research material spread out before him. Andy frequently encouraged other instructors to "research, research, research".

The purpose of this program is to encourage fire service education through scholarly research while in residence at the New York State Academy of Fire Service. This annual scholarship chair is intended to develop keen and insightful scholarship dedicated to the memory of Andrew A. Fredericks, a fire service educator whose devotion to research was the inspiration to a generation of fire service educators.
